PHorestAll explores the profound connection between forest ecosystems, biodiversity, and human health.
Forests play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance while also contributing to human well-being through natural processes such as the diversity of soil microbiomes and the presence of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) in forest air. The project investigates how healthy forest environments can support both ecosystem resilience and public health, promoting the concept of »Healing Forests« as a nature-based solution. Through interdisciplinary research across diverse forest ecosystems in Europe and Asia (Portugal, Slovenia, Poland, Lithuania, and Taiwan), PHorestAll aims to better understand the health-promoting effects of forests and to develop standardized methods for evaluating forest-based therapies. By combining scientific research, citizen science, and collaboration with policymakers and communities, the project contributes to new approaches that integrate biodiversity conservation, forest management, and public health strategies.

The PHorestAll project is a European initiative, co-funded under Biodiversa+, that explores the crucial link between forest biodiversity and human health. By studying ecosystems in Europe (Portugal, Slovenia, Poland, Lithuania) and Taiwan, it develops innovative approaches to identify and valorise »Healing Forests« to promote well-being.
