Forest Therapy Lab
The Forest Therapy Lab is a research and practice centre dedicated to advancing scientific understanding and applied innovation in forest therapy as a nature-based solution for human health and well-being. Guided by Prof. Chia-Pin (Simon) Yu, a leading scholar and certified forest therapy practitioner based at National Taiwan University, the Lab integrates multidisciplinary research with real-world programming to explore how structured forest-based experiences can improve physical, psychological, and social health outcomes.
Situated in Taiwan - a region increasing its focus on preventive and holistic health in response to demographic aging - the Forest Therapy Lab collaborates with academic, governmental, and community partners to develop evidence-informed forest therapy models, evaluate health impacts, and inform policy and practice. Its work draws on embodied sensory engagement with forest environments and leverages Taiwan’s diverse forest landscapes as living laboratories for research and therapeutic intervention.
The Lab’s activities encompass empirical research, program design, field testing, and translation of forest therapy principles into educational and clinical settings. Through rigorous study and outreach, the Forest Therapy Lab seeks to contribute to global knowledge on how nature-based interventions can enhance resilience, reduce stress, and promote health across the lifespan - particularly among older adults, urban populations, and individuals navigating mental health challenges.
