The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) is the largest higher education institution in Lithuania, specialising in health sciences, life sciences, agriculture, and veterinary sciences. It is internationally recognised for its strong academic tradition, interdisciplinary research, and close integration of education, research, and healthcare practice. LSMU conducts multidisciplinary research across medicine, pharmacy, public health, nursing, rehabilitation, veterinary medicine, and natural product sciences, addressing challenges in human and environmental health. The University actively participates in national and international research projects and collaborates closely with healthcare institutions, governmental bodies, and international partners. LSMU offers a Postgraduate Forest Therapy Programme and develops postdoctoral studies in forest therapy, aimed at advancing innovative, evidence-based, nature-oriented interventions for health promotion and rehabilitation. LSMU’s forest therapy initiatives integrate interdisciplinary research, applied practice, and education, fostering collaboration between healthcare professionals, pharmacists, environmental scientists, and community stakeholders. The University also plays an active role in shaping professional standards and legal frameworks for forest therapy in Lithuania, strengthening the institutional and professional development of this emerging field and reinforcing the One Health approach to sustainable well-being.
