The Centre for Functional Ecology – Science for People & the Planet (CFE) is one of UC’s leading research units, bringing together diverse expertise to study biodiversity, ecological interactions, ecosystem functioning, and the sustainable use of natural resources.
CFE carries out national and international projects in close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, and is strongly committed to training, citizen-science initiatives, and effective science communication. The centre supports public policy and advances nature-based solutions that strengthen ecosystem resilience and sustainability. It also plays an active role in One Health research, reinforcing the environmental dimension of approaches to improving health and well-being, sustainable food systems, ecosystem protection, and sustainable development.
